cricket

The design of these tables is based on a simple combination of a wood top with two wooden legs and a third metal leg that can be used also as a handle. The long, thin legs that look somewhat like cricket polls, also create an overall insect-like look that gives these tables their unique character.

In more and more homes, dinner is had in front of the TV, in the company of the computer or standing by the kitchen counter while talking on the phone. The sit-down meal, at the set table, appears to be losing both time and attention.

endless table

endless table/ WenchuMan

A modular table made up of interlocking wood cubes with one leg each.
“Endless simulates the idea of life in a community where every individual is interdependent with the rest. In this modular table made out of wood cubes, any part can be left alone, though they can only remain standing if they are assembled with at least two other ones.

atlas table

image

The Atlas Table, made of interlocking wooden segments, is a masterpiece to behold, both as a tactile object and a work of art. The geometric pattern was achieved by inlaying darker wooden pyramids into a latticework of oak cubes. The resulting triangle motif adds a sense of dynamism to an otherwise stationary furniture piece.

Små Ting

image

Our hectic lives are being contained to smaller and smaller spaces. A table can no longer be content as a simple table. We need a table that doubles as storage! We need multifunctional furniture that plays multiple roles while taking up half the space.

Swedish designer Johanna Paulsson’s Små Ting offers a small, convenient solution.

table & fence

image

Table and fence was based on the research of affordance and was made to create a field to gather people to around it in social activity. The fence sits around the table for people to
lean on, and it also suggests to them to share the table space with others. By reducing the room for personal using with a narrow top rail on the fence, the sharing space expands.

branchworks

branchworks/ Gael Corto Arcadio Jabali

Consumerism refers to economic policies, placing emphasis on mindless consumption rather than creation. Branchworks is a social interaction project which uses a stool to transform consumers into makers. The consumers are led through three steps, each intended to invoke curiosity and guide them to an intimate meeting with the designer. A workshop that teaches the prospecting makers two separate techniques that are simple and easy. Woodcarving and a method of connection that can be used to fix, fabricate or embellish using tree branches.

stick

stick table/ Esra Jakobsson

In our everyday life we are surrounded by products. Products that we use frequently but have stopped noticing. By playing with used christmas trees as material the Stick was born. Stick can be attached to a tabletop or a seat to serve as a leg and therefore creating the finished product. The leg is two parted, wood and steel. The composition of these materials strengthen each other as separately they wouldn’t work as legs. Stick is designed to make the user notice their ordinary everyday objects and hopefully make him smile.

blueberry table

Blueberry table / Klara Sumova

Settled Landcapes project —
Located in the north Bohemian forests, this table reflects materials hidden by its
surroundings. It is carved from sandstone, a rock found within the subsoil of the area. At the centre of the table is a room for plants, which ties the relationship of the forest to the substrate it depends on. As in the forest itself, the table acts as a plant container – porous sandstone being an ideal material for supporting flora.

lotus float table

lotus table / industry plus

Float is an exquisite illusion for the home – a levitating lotus pond supported by a trio of intertwining stems. Each table is unique, containing an arrangement of lotus leaves sourced from South East Asia. Behaving like a giant plano-convex lens, Float creates many surprising optical and visual effects. Everyday becomes a magical affair, as reality appears to distort around this table.

sky deck

Sky Deck / Torafu

This is a small table made to hook onto handrails, and it uses just enough pieces of wood to do so. You can put your mobile phone or a radio on it while you hang out your laundry, or it can be used as a counter when you have a beer on your balcony on a nice day. Floating in the air, sky deck stretches a narrow balcony space out by just a little bit, into the city beyond.

rewrite

rewrite/ gamfratesi

The idea behind Rewrite began as a study of the desktop and especially an atmosphere and feeling we believe is needed even in the middle of an accelerating communication and technology. Rewrite is thought of as a kind of isolating workingbubble, that can work as a satellitedesk anywhere one can feel the need of concentration and shielding – in open space offices, public spaces or at home.

The LeafDesk is a table designed for collaborative working. There was a need for desking that could accommodate flexible working, be easily shared and facilitate high density working. multiple table

multiple table/ raphael charles

The “Multiple” low table is made of a group of repetitive elements in solid beech, “glued” to one another by an invisible magnetic system which enables one to modulate the table infinitely. Depending on the different configurations, they will be assembled in order to form just one low table in variable shapes, or in separate , different islets to best fit the space.

liquid glacial table

liquid glacial table/ zaha hadid

The Liquid Glacial design embeds surface complexity and refraction within a powerful fluid dynamic. The elementary geometry of the flat table top appears transformed from static to fluid by the subtle waves and ripples evident below the surface, while the table’s legs seem to pour from the horizontal in an intense vortex of water frozen in time.
