grass lamps

grass lamp / pinwu

Xuan Lamp:
Within this lamp the bamboo is changed into fine and smooth slices. Its shape is easy to control. Especially by a breeze through an open window the delicate curves of bamboo are fluttering and dancing.

Shun Lamp:
This lamp is made of bamboo and the construction imitates the frame of an umbrella. When the lamp is turned off, it is a cylinder. When you turn it on, the shape of the shell changes, due to the flexibility characteristics of the bamboo.
The ‘Ning’ lamp uses a material mix of bamboo, porcelain powder and epoxy resin. This approach creates a suspenseful combination of traditional and new materials, whereby ancient handcraft meets a contemporary design language.
The lamp is composed of bamboo fibers which are adhered together by porcelain powder and epoxy resin on its bottom edge.
‘Chuán’ is characterized by very thin bamboo strings made by yuhang craftsmen.
after a while the pieces are becoming brown due drying,
the form of the lamp naturally following the given shape of the bamboo.

brick lamp mini

image

The original idea of this project is to make people aware of the moment
of concealing and revealing light. To make it a functional lamp, instead of a switch, light is activated when raised(on) or laid flat(off). Also by creating the side facets, a natural
handle is made which also directs the light when the brick
sits on it’s side.
